Trotter-Standardbred Roadster Foundation
Trotter - Standardbred Roadster Foundation is a 501c3 founded in 2024. Our mission is to raise awareness and promote the Roadster show horse discipline as a rewarding second career option for off-the-track Standardbred racehorses. Through strategic partnerships, educational initiatives, and engaging events, we aim to provide access to Roadster competitions at all levels while supporting the transition and welfare of these remarkable athletes. By showcasing the athleticism and versatility of Standardbreds in the show ring, we strive to reduce the number of unwanted racehorses and foster a vibrant community dedicated to their continued success and well-being.
In 2023, there were over 300 Roadster horses listed in the Saddle Horse Report annual high point Standings.
Nearly a third of the 300 Roadster horses registered with the American Road Horse & Pony Association were non-Standardbreds - primarily crossbreeds or Dutch Harness Horses (Standardbred Journal 2023)
